The Ballerinas have long been a symbol of the Jacksonville State University Marching Southerners. This premier group of dancers are well-versed in whatever genre of music they are presented with. Whether pleasing crowds at JSU events with the traditional, kickline style, or impressing countless Southerners fans at exhibtions across the southeast, the Ballerinas have become famous for their versatility. The Marching Southerners are accentuated by these talented young ladies on and off the field.

Being a Ballerina
Being a Ballerina is a lot of hard work.
It is being part of a team.
A Ballerina needs enthusiasm and confidence in her ability.
Love and devotion; these constitute a Ballerina's emotions.
Being a Ballerina is a great honor.
A Ballerina is someone who puts herself aside and focuses on the Line.
Feeling tense and nervous, smiling and desiring to succeed,
Accepting disappointment, learning to try again.
Working for many hours, going through stiffness and aches.
Wondering if you can improve, realizing the work it takes.
Learning to never give up until you reach your goal.
Being proud of the spot you hold and caring about the Line,
But deeper than this is making new friends.
We help eachother in the bad times,
And laugh with eachother in the good.
|Ballerinas through out the season are people who become...
FRIENDS FOR A LIFETIME!

This is something that has been passed down throughout the years and is still passed down today to all the girls!
