Auditions
Each spring, dozens of young ladies try out for the South's most prestigious college danceline. Only about 40 talented girls are fortunate enough to make it. Potential Ballerinas are made up of highschool seniors, transferring college students, as well as returning Ballerinas.
During several Saturday camps in the spring, the Ballerinas' dance styles are taught and applied into several tryout routines. The staff makes final cuts around the first of March for what will become the next fall's Line.
If you are an incoming high school student and are interested in receiving college credit for auditioning, you may fill out the accellerated high school admission form which can be printed from this address on the main JSU
website: http://www.jsu.edu/depart/avpasa/Accelapplication.htm
Please know that this is optional and not a requirement for auditions. Also, you do not have to currently be accepted to JSU in order to audition for the line.
At auditions potential Ballerinas will learn two audition routines, a traditional and modern dance. Our traditional style dates back over 50 years and is modeled after the Radio City Rockettes. The modern dance is a jazz style ranging from a lyrical routine to a quick tempo dance, depending on the year. For any further questions pertaining to auditions you may contact Allison Brown.
